Does Sharia Law Apply in The UK?

When most of the foreigners and non-Muslims hear about shariah law they immediately think about all the bloodshed activities and terrorism promoted by all the Muslim countries and there is no fault of their own because whenever the news about any Muslim country is discussed it is because of some attack or bomb blasts in which thousands of lives were sacrificed because of the jihad and sharia laws according to Islam. Recently it was discovered that over one-third of the area in Britain is protected under the sharia law where non-Muslims cannot even enter the place and it is protected under the law.

Our main concern is that what is even sharia according to the Islamic Wills Lawyer? And how it is practiced in the UK and what laws are being practiced over there, what kind of legal actions and rights are given to the people living there under the sharia law?

What is Sharia?

Sharia is a term which can be used in multiple ways but in general, it can be explained as a way of living for all the Muslims which is prescribed by Allah in their holy book, some people may classify it as laws and regulations but the sharia is explained as simple instructions for all the Muslims in all their life matters whether they are included in the law or not. Sharia explains the basic rules of how to worship God and what are the basic duties of the Muslims according to the primary sources of sharia which are the Quran and sunnah.

Sometimes the sharia is explained as god’s will to mankind that how they should spend their lives but sometimes there are some laws still in Sharia which can be understood through “ Fiqa” which means according to the consensus of people that what they may perceive through the given orders provided in the sharia but unlike sharia “Fiqa” is open for debate any Muslim or scholar may bring the discussion into question and that discussion or order may be open to error which can be rectified after confirming the Laws From The Basic Sources Of Islam.

What Do Sharia Councils Do in The UK?

Now let’s discuss the sharia law which is being practiced in Britain but in spite, its negative aspects the imposition of this law creates some sort of fear and anger among all the people, before going into any further discussion there are two main points which need to clarify such as:

Some of the sharia law norms are already being practiced in the civil courts.

Sharia councils and laws have no legal standing in any of the civil courts of Britain but still, it provides an important service to women in our society by protecting their rights but sometimes those laws are often objected because they are facing some controversial issues along with gender discrimination.

The sharia law is not completely observed in Britain some of the norms of those laws are followed by adding the necessary conditions according to the law of their country for example in sharia law both the parties can solve their disputes through the court under Islamic laws but the English law introduces the role of an arbitrator which will allow a third party to solve this dispute and until his final decision both the parties will have to surrender themselves.
