Who does not love candles? In fact, No one does. The scented candles, especially, are fit for all places, seasons, and occasions. Placing them on tables in bedrooms, bathrooms, lounges, and outdoor settings add a regal essence to any setting. They also elicit a calm and invigorating sense. Since they are extremely beautiful and fairly easy to make, they are a perfect choice to gift someone, especially a close one. You may get tempted by its features and easy to make tips to create one on your own. Hold on! they are not as easy as making boiled eggs. You have to take precautionary measures while making them. You must follow safe tools and steps when making luxury scented candles or ordinary candles.

Safety Tools:

1- Melter/ Double Boilers

A melter and double boilers are the basic tools for melting hard material. You must always make sure that you melt wax in a double boiler or a melter that is specifically designed for melting wax.

2- Goggles

Do not forget to wear goggles when stirring the wax to liquid. The wax may contain several contaminants which evaporate when it is melt. It must be made sure that no steam goes into your eyes.

3- Gloves/ Potholders

When pouring out the molten wax, use a potholder or wear gloves as the high temperature can burn your hands. It becomes more dangerous if the wax spills out due to your impulsive response to burn.

4- Fire Extinguisher

As a safety measure, you must keep a fire extinguisher nearby. In case of any mishap, you will be well equipped to stop the fire. Always avoid pouring water directly onto the wax fire, as it may surge the blazing fire.

Tips To Safely Make Scented Candles

1- First of all, choose the right location for following up the process of making candles. A location where no children can enter and which is well-ventilated.

2- Prepare completely before starting the procedure. Wear protective gear like goggles and gloves. Also, avoid wearing loose dresses and those which have tangling laces and hooks. Tie your hair completely if you have long hair. Furthermore, set the required equipment beforehand so that you do not have to keep rushing to grab the required tool. It can cause a disaster.

3- Always use the right tools and equipment, as suggested above.

4- When the wax completely melts down, add dye shreds and fragrance. You must prefer adding essential oils rather than fragrance supplements.  

5- Thirdly, never leave wax for boiling unattended. It is very dangerous to leave it be as there can be a chance of overflow.

6- Follow the process of making candles carefully and read the instructions every time. No matter how big of an expert you are, you will always have to follow the procedure.

7- Look for a 100% cotton wick to fit in your handmade candle. You can also choose a wooden wick, which has a larger scent throw than a cotton wick.

8- Choose the right container/containers to pour the molten wax. Choose beautiful yet resilient jars. Many glass jars cannot bear the high temperature of the wax, and they breakdown. It is very dangerous as hot wax can spill on your body. Opt for containers that are highly robust against high temperatures like high-quality glass, plastic, and steel.

Scented candles are, sure, a great addition to the aesthetics and feel of a place. Be it a bedroom, lounge, bathroom, and sitting area- it adds a feeling of intimacy and cosiness. They are not a luxury that you cannot afford, but DIYs with simple and cheap material. All you need is to follow the instructions and make a crateful of scented candles.
