Do PS3 Accessories Work On PS2?

It’s quite troublesome having issues with your controller that can possibly ruin your entire game. What is even more troubling is getting to know that your controller isn’t working. However, one question that arises in your mind is whether or not your PlayStation controller or accessories work with other PlayStation models.

Here Are Some Ways You Can Choose

The first thing is to know the accessories that you can choose to make work with PS2. Your PS3 should come with a power cord, DualShock 3 controller, a composite AV cable, and a USB cord.

Setting the Controller

One of the ways you can do it is by ditching the cords for your PlayStation 1 or 2 is by attaching the controller from PS3. Some may argue that a PS3 controller won’t work but it does. The reason is the presence of classic profiles such as DualShock 3. Similar to DualShock 1 and 2, you won’t need any cord with DualShock 3. Besides, you will also have the same control for your PS2 and PS1.

Though an official adapter for merging PS3 with older PS versions hasn’t been released, there’s an affordable wireless dongle that you can opt for. The Brook USB Super Adapter is the dongle that allows pairing your PS3 controller pair with PS2 in no time. It’s easily available on Amazon and eBay and you can buy it for $39.99.

Apart from that, you’ll be needing a third-party controller to make it compatible with the PS you want to play.

Component Cable

Another thing you can shift from your PS3 to PS2 is the component cable. Most people argue that the component cable for PS3 and PS2 isn't the same. However, online discussion portals have elaborated that component cables are the same. The packaging is different even though the plastic or the colour isn't the same but the cable is. Hence, if you’re facing an issue with the component cable of your PS2 then you can probably use the component cable from PS3.

Power Cord

If you’re having an issue with your PlayStation 2 power cord, then sadly you will not be able to use the one from PlayStation 3. This is because the input port for the PlayStation 2 is not large enough to fit the cord for PlayStation 3. The power cord from PlayStation 3 resembles that of a standard computer. Even if you have a slim PlayStation 2, the power cord will still not be able to accommodate the one from PS3.

These are some of the ways that you can adopt to integrate your PS3’s accessories with your PS2. However, it is better to keep the accessories safe since the module can have issues integrating with foreign components. In addition, make sure to attach only the components that you are sure will work properly to avoid any issue with the module. Keeping that in mind, keep safe the controllers as well as the power cord to avoid any hassles later.
